While I was never the greatest fan of Marilyn Manson’s music, he really comes off as a well spoken and intelligent artist in this interview. I couldn’t think of a greater contrast to O’Reilly’s self-righteous, blustering manner. To be fair though, O’Reilly keeps his infamous temper in check and is courteous to his guest. I do find it funny that O’Reilly challenges Manson on his use of profanity in his lyrics, considering his own previous outbursts…
A spot-on comic from Viruscomix.com that satirizes your average concert goers. Having been next to some of these characters at numerous shows, this made me chuckle. They missed “the really tall asshole that stands in front of you” though.
This is a beautiful video tribute to the late comedian/philosopher Bill Hicks and his take on “The War on Drugs”. I think the song on the soundtrack is a remixed Godspeed You Black Emperor track, but I could be wrong. Anyways, the animation and editing in this is hypnotic. Take a look.
“Today, a young man on acid realized that all matter is merely energy condensed to a slow vibration … that we are all one consciousness experiencing itself subjectively. There’s no such thing as death, life is only a dream, and we’re the imagination of ourselves. Here’s Tom with the weather.”
While going through rateyourmusic.com, you often come across some pretty bizarre entries. Because the website allows users to post any album in existence up for review, you expect to find some esoteric musings. Here are some of my favorites:
CD Laser Lens Cleaner. Average Rating: 2.2
Best Review:
“Not a little disappointing after the wildly inventive 2-Way Cassette Head Cleaner, but fans of clean production will find something to like. Favorite track: (Untitled)” -jimmyjems.
Lasagna Cat makes live action reenactments of old Garfield cartoon strips and then adds to the strangeness of it all by adding trippy music videos afterwards, this one being for NIN’s Head like A Hole. The result is both hilarious and hallucinative! Check out the Lasagna Cat You Tube page for more bizarre installments.
This hilarious send up to The Beatles’ 1964 film A Hard Day’s Night is by HBO’s Mr Show. If you don’t know what Mr. Show is, get on Youtube immediately. Yeah Yeah Yeah!
While this classic Kids in the Hall sketch may not have a whole lot to do with rock music, it is still a hilarious song in its own right. Further proof that Canadians are comedy kings.
